Echinacea purpurea Tincture

Echinacea Tincture 1:2 45% made from fresh organic roots
Echinacea purpurea, 45% alcohol.
Most effective during first 24 hours of an infection. Daily adult dose 5ml twice or three times a day, unless otherwise directed. May be taken at a lower dose for a period of time as a preventative.
Use with caution in first trimester of pregnancy and seek professional advice before use.
Do not give to children under 12.
Excessive doses, if undiluted or on an empty stomach may cause passing gastric upset in sensitive individuals.
Allergies to echinacea and members of the Asteraceae family are known, but relatively rare.
Some concerns have been raised about liver toxicity and the pyrrolizidine alkaloid levels in echinacea, but the type present in echinacea are not liver toxic (they have a 1,2 saturated necine ring).
Though there is some evidence that echinacea has an effect on CYP450 liver enzymes, there is no evidence of any interactions between echinacea and prescription medication.
