Habitat: Native to lower altitudes of mountains in western South Africa, Bucbu is a large evergreen shrub rowing to 2m tall. The leaves have numerous oil glands and have a distinctive sweet aroma. Sadly wild plants are being over harvested and global recognition of the traditional uses of this plant grows. Cultivated Buchu is preferred to protect the sustainability of this plant.
