Agrimonia eupatoria

• Diarrhoea in children
• Mucous colitis
• Chronic cholecystopathies with gastric sub-acidity
• Chronic gastritis
• Urinary incontinence
• Cystitis
• Sore throat (gargle)
• Chronic nasal catarrh (nasal flush)

Common names: Agrimony, Church steeples

Family: Rosaceae

Parts used: Aerial parts, harvested when flowering or just before. 

Habitat: A lesser known member of the venerable rose family. A leafy perennial native to Europe, often growing along waysides and hedges, preferring sunny, moist, well-drained soil.

Constituents: Flavonoids; derivatives of luteolin, apigenin, quercetin, kaempherol and isoflavonoids diadzen and biochanin. Oligomeric procyanidins, tannins (up to 8%), phenolic acids, terpenoids and smaller amounts of coumarins, salicilic acid and volatile oils.

Actions: Astringent, Diruretic, Tonic

Folklore: Traditional British folklore states that if a sprig of the plant was placed under a person's head, they would sleep until it was removed.
